About Me

I'm an MHCI+D student at the University of Washington, Seattle. At my time at UW, I am looking forward to expand my skill set in User Research, Product Design and Information Architecture.

During my undergrad, I was actually bent towards computer science. I came to college with no backup plan, my mind was set. But while working on a project at IIT Madras, I had the most transformative experience in my life, that focused on developing and redesigning the mobile application experience and the impact it had on my friend's life. It was then that I think I understood what Steve Jobs meant when he said that —"Most people make the mistake of thinking design is what it looks like. People think it’s this veneer – that the designers are handed this box and told, “Make it look good!” That’s not what we think design is. It’s not just what it looks like and feels like. Design is how it works"

By the end of my sophomore year, I was one of the seven selected-students in the department to get an Internship opportunity at Quickplay, working along with usability engineers and creative directors in improving the usability, usefulness, and desirability of Video Streaming websites and applications. I knew the voice inside me reflecting back to the memories saying that design was something that I truly wanted to pursue. Although in my head, I think I already knew that this is what I wanted. I feel the reason I like computer science, and why I love design is that at heart I’m a creator. I guess it only took a little bit of persuasion to realize that I wanted to use design as a medium to work without constraints and connect with the environment.

This is where I am at today, and I’m excited to see where the future will take me. I feel like I have only just scratched the surface of what design is, and I can’t wait to explore it further.
